ahh, it's so nice to be back at sea level .. i can breath again. legs feeling good. combo of rest on the drive over, proper workouts from Brad, and a visit to see Dave at No. Boulder Chiro www.dcdoctor.com/dc/co/northboulderchiropractic_com. . . he got my body parts talking and working together again. they seemed to be in disagreement. . . all the racing crashing travel sickness had a lot of nerves/communication not making it to my muscles. . . go see him if you re in CO . ..he'll make you a believer. . today was a good solo day. shot down the vineyard roads west, toward the ocean. traveled to Occidental where the tour passed through. . . reversed the route to the ocean and did some repeat intervals on the Coleman Valley climb. .. still fresh paint on the road from the tour. "LEVI LEVI" written everywhere "BASSO" "Danielson" "George" "NO WAR IN IRAN" . . . i remember floating through the two quick switchbacks, peopled lined on both sides .. i took that in for a moment. . . Jens Voight on my right side, Levi a few wheels ahead of me. . . Some one rubbed wheels and went into the ditch, i looked over, and then consequently put my front tire b/t Justin England's rear wheel and derailer. . i had to wiggle it out, which spooked a few people . . Jen's said behind me, "everything's fine, everyone calm dowwwn" . .. that was about 5 mins before Zabriske came ramming into my bars on the edge of the road, both of us going somersaulting into the grassy ditch. i think i kind of landed on him when we rolled head first and i donkey kicked my BMC into the air. . . that night Chris Wherry came to our dinner table and asked who crashed. He said, "that was amazing! your bike hit Sean Sullivan in the head and bounced across my bars!" . . i remember getting up, seeing out of the corner of my eye DZ trying stand up and falling again (he had a concussion and dropped out of the race) (You're welcome Levi) . .. i looked in the grass, even ran up on the little hill, searching the landscape for my bike. . .finally a moto guy/referee had to stop and say "hey guy, it's over there" pointing down the road 25-30 feet. i ran over to the bike, put the chain back on . . and peddled my ass off just to make it back on to the peleton. . . i felt better when people told me how Landis publicly said Zabriske had to learn to ride his bike. . . i guess the guy has the record for the number of air lifts/flight for life from bike races/training. . . that was the day we finished in Santa Rosa, and due to the fact i chased on forever, i was at the back when the massive crash took place in the finishing circuits .. makes you think, sometimes, one bad thing might save you from a really bad thing. . . you never know.
tomorrow it's supposed to be 78 degrees F . .. nice. i have a big day planned. .. we'll see.
David Vitoria got 4th in the RR on the first day of Central Valley Classic http://www.centralvalleyclassic.com/ this weekend. So, depending on the TT today, he could be looking at a podium finish ???
