"Time gaps cause major headaches in Missouri"

why wouldn't a team with the leader's jersey,
who missed the break stage 2 tour of MO
http://www.cyclingnews.com/road/2007/sep07/missouri07/?id=results/missouri072
chase?
i'll tell you why.
DESPAIR.
there's sort of a historic thing in the making . .
they might say years of decades from now
something not dissimilar to
"when we first started bringing major racing to the continental US there was a big disparity between the top and bottom teams invited . .you had teams like
Tecos from MEX not willing to hang it out there and bring back a break,
even teams like Toyota, even Tinkoff in the tour of Georgia. Why? because
teams heavy handed like Discovery, with a disproportionate amount of horse power, over the course of a week would just sit back and watch as each successfully dismantled itself as they sent a new GC threat into position to win it all again the next day. .. "
or something??
the racing is too lop sided.
there needs to be enough big teams to keep everyone accountable. Like Tour of CA, perhaps.
i bet the posture of the continental teams would be WAY different if the Disco jersey wasn't in the peleton.
instead there is that of despair,
i.e. a 16mph peleton rolling through the townships of MO,
clogging the infrastructure of road and rail way,
as car are lined up waiting for a race enclosure spread out by half an hour
from front to back creeps through their municipalities.. .
there a problems in this nation,
an a lot of the public thinks
one of those problems
is riding a bicycling on the roads they drive on.
America,
we have a long way to go
in order to "get there" ..
