Team Swift/Cycling with Champs Fundraiser

a few weeks ago we gathered many of the who's who in northern california cycling scene and went for a "casual" group ride up Westside Road in western Sonoma County. Dillon from CLIF BAR amoung others in the region showed up to support a junior cycling program that as been feeding the racing scene with riders for the last few years.
the ride soon turned into a hammerfest when BMC director GS Chilcott decided to attack the nicely orchestrated pace line that i had set up with the junior riders, everyone talking nice, smooth, even pulls and then pealing off to the left, when Chilcott attacked up the right side gutter, causing some of the more seasoned Swifties (who are becoming in tune with their testosterone) to chase and then counter attack, then another counter attack and so on. the "casual" ride turned into a hammerfest (with a nice picnic in the middle in the town of Healdsberg) as you will be able to see from the photos.
the day was a huge success.
sometimes surrounding yourself with successful people means hanging out with 14+/- yearolds. these kids are champs! and they keep you on your toes (or your pedals) and are very inspiring.
i think it was Tyler, one of the testosterone teenage boys, who said to me with a smirk, "yah know, last year, when Freddie Rodriguez was here, there were a lot more people who showed up for this fundraiser."
"yah, i know" I replied.
"but" as we sat there both bonking after the hammerfest, "who'd you have more fun with?!"

phew! i was worried there you'd never write a report on that ride! i couldn't help it, the BMC logo on your jersey looked like a target, so i had to attack.

i've noticed tyler and i are the only ones who read your blog. maybe save your mum and a couple others. guess you'll have to win some more races...

Wow. Is that a slam on you by Ethan about how many people read your blog: "save your mum and a couple others"?

i realize i came off a bit more insulting than i thought. i was simply mimicking scott's saying that he writes the blog for his mum. he did lay a little smackdown on the geysers today. i imagine he'll win a few more races this year, so i don't feel so bad. hell, he's a pro, too.
