yah that's right

yah, that's right.
i walked to whole food with my recycled plastic grocery bag. . only to snub my nose at all those gas guzzling hybrid prius's.
i'm not sure the gas prices these days (4.39usd/gal northern cal) are going to force monster trucks with calvin and hobbes sticker defacing the competition brand truck logo (or the one arm flexing {i like that one}) off the road, or just make them less patient when they have to hesitate to safely pass a cyclist on the road. this remains to be seen.
but there was road block the other day when two dual'ie trucks couldn't pass each other on Bay Hill. each driver seemed nice to the other, but of course they weren't clad in lycra. nothing to get pissed about.

so, the word from Sebastopol is...
the sonoma county grassland has browned-out,
the vineyards are growing and greener.
the creeks are running low,
it's starting to be real summer.
racing news:
the team is getting ready for Tour de Suisse. starting next weekend.
though, presently they are in Philly getting ready for the big whopper RR on this weekend.
i'm on the bench for swiss, unless something unforeseen happens. .
which is a kind a doozy: i have to prepared for something like TdeSUI with the strong possibility of not going.
but that really just means i get to do what i'd normally like to do which is ride my bike and try to link up some of the bigger sonoma/napa valley climbs, something that i am normally told not to do too much of (as it leads to what is a strong propensity of mine: to over-and-inappropriately-train) leading to fatigue and a tapped-out central nervous system come race time. (i learned it from zirbelicious, sports garage days)
so, focus is now
nevada city classic in the foot hills of the sierra,
then a couple days hanging out for the tour de nez in reno/truckee/tahoe area.
it's funny when you get frustrated about not getting to do something that you never even expected in the first place, like going to the Tour de SUISSE. i had to remind myself that this is ALL bonus.
the day i moved to CA,
no, the day i was born.
gotta stay happy, and focused on the true horizon. not on the horizon i wish were there.
my dad always says: create options boy!
that was/is his formula for mental health.

my dad by the way:
mr mental health cancer survior himself
is doing JUST FINE!
round three chemo DONE.
almost out of the woods on those/its side effects.
he and ma are at their home on the river in MI,
dad managed a game of golf, and was cutting wood with a chainsaw until mom came home and put a stop to it.!
the U of MI bone marrow people gave him/them/us a reprieve on his transplant.
said he was the best looking 60 year old chemo x 2 patient they had seen walk through the door (a few weeks ago) .. said to stick with some more Chemo, bypass the nasty bone marrow transplant, and watch things closely for the next few years.
!
my money says there was a moment in this whole thing where he wanted to quit.
and he didn't.

Great news about your Dad.
